The CARF-Models Extra 300L 2.3m – probably one of our most sold items ever. Everything started with the classic 3m sized Extra 300 S design, scaled down to 2.3m to make it more affordable to a larger number of aerobatic enthusiasts without loosing much flight performance compared to the 40%. We put a lot of new input into that design and changed it to the large canopy of the „300 L“ to improve the knife-edge a little bit. The result is amazing: With the CARF Models Extra 300L 2.3m, you’re getting a perfect "every-day" plane, which fits into smaller cars without problems and is perfect for just one flight after work, and the flight performance is almost the same like with the "big birds"...

 

There is another big advantage of the "2.3": It’s affordable. You don’t need a lot of servos and a 50cc engine like the DA-50R is a good reliable choice. Also the MVVS/Evolution 58 is getting really popular with this plane. And our Extra 300L 2.3m can resist the enormous vibrations of a single cylinder - forever. Maybe the kit seems to be a little more expensive as the wooden ARFs from our competitors, but have you seen them after a busy flying season? What’s special about the "twopointthree"?

  • We listened to our valued customers all the time and we are always trying to improve things. Regarding the landing gear of our 300L, we didn’t make experiments, we just made it solid and strong. You have to do a lot to break that. But even if you do so – ordering the spare parts with our new website was never as easy as it is right now. And then, it takes you exactly three bolts to exchange it. Quite simple, isn’t it ?

  • The engine dome comes as a separate part - that’s perfect to have the freedom of choice of hundreds of engines. It’s also not too expensive to fly your Extra with an electric motor. There are good solutions available from Hacker or Plettenberg and many others. Sometimes, the engine mount has to be really special and customers don’t want to use our dome. Well it’s easy, just don’t bolt it on ;-)

  • As always, all the linkage accessories are included in the kit. We’re using high quality phenolic material, which is really hard to get sloppy. You’ll find everything you need in the hardware-bag.

How is the flight performance ? Well, that plane doesn’t only carry the name of an Extra – like so many designs of our competitors – it also really LOOKS like an Extra. That’s why you need a little coupling (5-8 %) to make the knife-edge straight. Just set the coupling in your transmitter and forget about it. It will be always active like a part of the airplane – and you’ll don’t even know that it’s there after a while. Guaranteed. That’s the only bad thing about the low wing position. The good thing is, that it usually makes positive harriers a lot more stable, and that’s a point, where many airplanes are failing.
