Ray Labonte (United States of America)
Jets & Props
Ray has always pursued his goals with 100% of his energy and enthusiasm. As a teenager he wanted to fly for the major airlines. By age 21 he was a first officer with Bar Harbor Airlines and in 1984 he became their youngest captain. During his career Ray accumulated over 10,000 hours flying various aircraft including the B-727 where he was last assigned as a First Officer. A serious car accident and a bout with cancer caused him to reevaluate his life and his priorities. After some soul searching, Ray decided to leave the airlines in order to spend more time with his wife and daughter, and pursue a dream that he had since childhood - owning a hobby store. As is his style, Ray jumped into building the store with all of his energy. His goal - to create the best hobby store that he could. First he tought partners who were just as enthusiastic, and whose skills complemented his. He found Ed Eastabrook - a close friend and a superlative scale modeler and pilot. Mike Fasulo, proprietor of another local hobby store joined forces with Ray. Mike is an accomplished radio control boat modeler and radio control helicopter and car enthusiast. Last, but certainly not least, Ray asked his wife of 13 years, Robin, to join him. Robin is responsible for the craft and doll house aspect of the business. With this team Ray set about constructing a hobby store that is the delight of every modeler and craftsperson in the area - bright, well organized, well stocked, with lots of excellent static displays of the products in use and staffed by some of the most knowledgeable and affable people that you will find in the hobby industry.
