The airfoil of the Spark has been developed in University studies. The intention was to create an airfoil for air racers, which have to have a very low drag at small and high wing loadings, respectively, not only on a straight and level flight, but also during high-G turns. This airfoil promised to cope with the higher wing loadings of an electric jet, so we kept the wing small, knowing that even the high alpha drag would be minimal. And our experiments came true on the Spark. The Spark has the widest speed range you can imagine and even at slowest landing approaches you just can’t tip stall. It’s like a magnet kept the airflow around the wing… Yes, 200 mph / 320 km/h speeds are very likely possible with the recommended fans.
The aerobatic performance satisfied us already in the very first test flights. Perfect and straight fast rolls, knife edge without rudder coupling, giant loops, rolling loops, even violent snaps… what a great performer the Spark is. The slow flight characteristics are totally uncritical, making it an easy to land airplane on any flying field, no matter if grass or tarmac. You can safely operate the Spark from grass flying sites with take-off strip of only 70m length, with our recommended power sets. The Spark is a fun machine. It takes you to the flying field after work for a few breathtaking jet flights without the hassle of assembling, fueling, starting, cooling down and packing up. Some flying sites restrict turbine flying during the dry summer months, the Spark gives Jet like performance all the year round. Just take it out of your trunk, make a few flights, throw it back in and go home for dinner. Doesn’t that sound too good to be true…?
