Our first project for 2010: CARF Models Canadair CT-114 Tutor

Canadair CT-114 Tutor

Usually all Jets with great looks and promising flying characteristics have been made a hundred times. It's definitly hard to find something new. We had been searching for quite some time, and decided for a jet which surely would have great aerobatic capabilities, which would have great and easy ground handling, representing a great trainer and a high class scale model at the same time. And above all, to be rarely found on our model airfields and Jet Meetings. Our choice was the CT-114 "Tutor".

Developed as a trainer for the Canadian Air Force, it became famous when the airforce created the aerobatic team "Snowbirds". You only have to look at the lines of this plane to understand how well the "Tutor" is suited for a great flying model jet.

With 2.6m (102") span she is large enough to impress the pilot and spectator with her authority in the air, but at the same time small enough to be powered by the commonly used 12-16 kg thrust turbines. Thomas Singer has made the maiden flight on December 6th. The big smile is still in his face... We will make sure that Thomas gives us a report right here very soon, about how impressed he was with the flying. Just come back once in a while to check for updates.

We admit that this has been a surprise for many. But we really wanted to have the first flight in the books before we publish anything about this project. The serial production is planned to start in February/March 2010. We can not accept any firm orders at this time yet. We will continuously publish updates of the design details, just as they become serial standard.
