Italian TOC 2009 Our Team-Pilot Sascha Fliegener was invited to the first "Italian Tournament Of Champions - ITOC". Read his short report here: "At the end of the flying season 2009, I was invited to the first Italian Tournament Of Champions (ITOC). Unfortunately at the same date as the Shootout (what the organizers promised to change in future) and a little bit confused about what I should expect I started this trip down to Italy being really curious. And it was terrific! The location could not be better. In the middle of Italy's best tourist region, at "Monte D'Argentario", the competition takes place at a beautiful polo-field with the beautiful sea and langoons in the background. The organization comittee did a great job, everything was planned really well - including an exclusive seafood diner abord a big yacht for pilots, judges and sponsors. Unfortunately that still seemed not to be good enough for some pilots. A lot of them were still officially registered at the beginning of the competiton, but didn't show up. But this should be another thing the next time, when everybody knows that this event is absolutely a place to be! In the competition, I was using my Yak 55SP 3m with the "Butterfly Scheme". Equipped with a DA-170 on Greve's pipes and a Mejzlik 28,5x12 threebladed prop, it was the quietest and strongest plane on the field in my opinion. The Yak did a pretty good job as usual, in particular because the knowns contained some knife-edge loops. For the Freestyle flights (everybody had to fly two different routines to two different music collections), I used my SuperXtra with a DA-150, Greve's pipes and 30x12 twobladed prop. I added some fireworks at the wingtips as special effects, because you get additional points for that in this competition. Together with our Italian dealer X3Models.it, CARF Models was present with a small tent and demonstrated i.e. the new Edge 2.6m. Last but not least, I wish to thank the organizers for a really beautiful competition, which definitly will be more crowded the next time."
